Frankenfoods are processed soy and meat alternatives made to look like real foods, but they're nothing more than fake foods from head to toe. Think of Dr. Frankenstein making his monster. The same correlates to these food items. Scientists made these freakish foods.

They're and the worst of the worst of processed foods. These foods are genetically engineered, and full of allergens, preservatives, additives, and flavor enhancers.

Unlike soy foods such as edamame, tempeh, and traditional miso, which are closer to their natural state, frankenfoods are a far cry from anything real.

These frankenfoods include

  • Tofu hot dogs and burgers

  • Veggie loafs

  • Veggie sausage links

  • Veggie chicken

  • Veggie chicken wings

  • Veggie bacon

Some vegetarians don't eat any eggs or fish and want to expand their protein sources, which is smart, but they should get their protein elsewhere. These items aren't healthy for anyone. Period. In fact, they aren't even foods; they're food products. They're usually a mixture of a wheat protein with a subpar oil.

If you eat fish, try a salmon burger as a healthy swap. They're full of protein and good fats, and a great alternative to some of these frankenfoods, especially for picnics. If you don't eat fish, get your protein from edamame, beans, natto, hemp, tempeh, and tofu.
