Private philanthropic foundations

Private foundations are playing an increasingly important role in funding international development, especially when bilateral and multilateral donor funds are restricted or restricting. Private foundations often support social enterprise development and may be interested in supporting the expansion of some of the social businesses in their portfolio through a franchise model.
