Decorating your holiday cookies can be fun and easy! You can decorate holiday cutout cookie shapes using colored icing, an icing bag, and a few icing tips.

Remember:

  • Let the cookies cool completely before frosting.

  • When loading icing in the icing bag, fold the ends outward to get icing closer to the tip.

  • Keep continuous pressure on the icing bag while decorating.

  • Twist the end of the icing bag to get excess air out and to keep icing from going everywhere when you start decorating.

  • Make sure the icing is cool or at room temperature to keep the right consistency for decorating.

  • Icing can get runny if you hold it in your hand for too long while decorating. Stick it in the refrigerator to cool it down again when you notice a change in consistency.
