Chromebook supports only a fraction of the hardware that traditional operating systems like Windows and Mac OS support. This means that you can't directly connect your Chromebook to a number of devices, including printers.
Chromebook makes up for limited printer support with a printing protocol called cloud printing, which lets you print to any cloud-printing–enabled printer that's connected to the Internet. With cloud printer, you just connect the printer to a computer that's logged in to your Google account, and you can print your pages no matter where you are in the world.
But what if you don't have a cloud-printing–enabled printer? Or an Internet connection? Well, in that event, you can still "print" your file or document to a PDF file that can then be shared with someone that does have a printer connection.
To print to a PDF, follow these steps:
Open the document or content that you wish to print, and press Ctrl + P.
The Print menu appears revealing several options.
Open the Printer or Destination drop-down menu.
A menu of printer choices appears.
Select Save as PDF.
In some applications, you must first click Save as File before you can select PDF as the saved file type.
Click Print.
Your document is "printed" as a PDF file that can be emailed or later printed to a printer. Even if you have a working printer, printing to PDF is a great way to archive your work.
