Of all the social networking sites, Facebook is the king. It’s definitely a social networking site you want to use on your Samsugn Galaxy tablet. It’s the online place to go to catch up with friends, send messages, express your thoughts, share pictures and videos, play games, and waste more time than you ever thought you had.

  • Although you can access Facebook on the web by using the Internet app, it is highly recommended that you use the Facebook app.

  • You can access updates to your contacts’ Facebook statuses from the Contacts app.

  • Future software updates to your Galaxy tablet may include a Facebook app or another social networking app.

How to set up your Facebook account on your Samsung Galaxy tablet

The best way to use Facebook is to have a Facebook account, and the best way to do that is to sign up here by using your computer. Register for a new account by setting up your username and password.

Don’t forget your Facebook username and password!

Eventually, the Facebook robots send you a confirmation e-mail. You reply to that message, and the online social networking community braces itself for your long-awaited arrival.

After you’re all set up, you’re ready to access Facebook on your Galaxy tablet. To get the most from Facebook, however, you need the Facebook app.

How to get the Facebook app on your Samsung Galaxy tablet

You can get the Facebook app free from the Google Play Store. That app is your red carpet to the Facebook social networking kingdom.

To get the Facebook app, go to the Google Play Store and search for the Facebook for Android app. Download that app.

After you install the Facebook app, you may see a Facebook notification icon. Touch that icon and complete the steps required to complete installation on your tablet.

About the book author:

Dan Gookin has been writing about technology for 20 years. He has contributed articles to numerous high-tech magazines and written more than 90 books about personal computing technology, many of them accurate.
He combines his love of writing with his interest in technology to create books that are informative and entertaining, but not boring. Having sold more than 14 million titles translated into more than 30 languages, Dan can attest that his method of crafting computer tomes does seem to work.
Perhaps Dan’s most famous title is the original DOS For Dummies, published in 1991. It became the world’s fastest-selling computer book, at one time moving more copies per week than the New York Times number-one best seller (although, because it’s a reference book, it could not be listed on the NYT best seller list). That book spawned the entire line of For Dummies books, which remains a publishing phenomenon to this day.
Dan’s most recent titles include PCs For Dummies, 9th Edition; Buying a Computer For Dummies, 2005 Edition; Troubleshooting Your PC For Dummies; Dan Gookin’s Naked Windows XP; and Dan Gookin’s Naked Office. He publishes a free weekly computer newsletter, “Weekly Wambooli Salad,” and also maintains the vast and helpful Web site www.wambooli.com.
