To throw this tree-trimming party at Christmas time, you can do a lot of the work ahead. After you assemble the ingredients and craft supplies, gather the following recipes and then use the party planning tips here to make organizing this Christmas event a breeze.

  • Classic Eggnog

  • Kid-Friendly Eggnog (3 recipes needed)

  • Easy Homemade Gravlax

  • Baked Brie with Roasted Apples

  • Caramelized Onion Dip with Crudité

  • Classic Sugar Cookies

  • Royal Icing

You will also need instructions for the following craft projects:

  • Cinnamon stick votives (multiplied by 4)

  • Candy Garlands (multiplied by 4)

  • Popcorn-cranberry garlands (multiplied by 4)

Here are some tips for organizing for the party:

  • The sugar cookies, undecorated, can be made one month ahead.

  • The roasted apple component of the baked Brie recipe can be made one week ahead.

  • The onion dip can be made two to three days ahead.

  • The gravlax must be started two to three days ahead.

  • The kid’s version of the eggnog can be made one day before.

  • Make the adult eggnog the day of the party and prepare the vegetables for the crudité.

  • Bake the Brie right before your guests arrive.

  • Set out the craft items before your guests arrive.

To adjust for a different number of guests, use the following guidelines when scaling up or down

  • Eggnog: Both versions may be scaled up or down directly.

  • Easy Homemade Gravlax: May be scaled up or down directly.

  • Baked Brie with Roasted Apples: You can scale the roasted apples up or down, but the Brie is a whole item and can’t be halved or doubled as such.

  • Caramelized Onion Dip with Crudité: May be scaled up or down directly.

  • Classic Sugar Cookies: May be scaled up or down directly.

  • Cinnamon Stick Votives: May be scaled up or down directly.

  • Candy Garland and Popcorn Cranberry Garland: May be scaled up or down directly.
