If you’re becoming a Facebook Ads power user, you may want to enable the Power Editor to market so that you can have more control of your campaigns from one access point. The Power Editor makes it easy to create, edit, and manage ads and campaigns in bulk, even across a large number of different ad accounts.

The Power Editor is also a way to access the Facebook Ads API to create ads such as Sponsored search discussed earlier in this chapter.

To enable the Power Editor, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Ads Manager.

  2. Click the Power Editor selection on the left sidebar.

You see some information about getting started with the Power Editor.

  3. If you need to install Google Chrome, click the link shown in Step 1 of the onscreen directions, or go to www.google.com/chrome and click Download Chrome.

Google Chrome will be installed on your computer once you complete these steps.

  4. If you already have Google Chrome, or after you install it, move to Step 2 of the onscreen directions, and install the Power Editor by clicking the Here hyperlink.

This will install the Power Editor.

  5. If you see a pop-up window warning about extensions and apps that may harm your computer (this one is safe!), click the Continue button.

A Confirm New App window opens.

  6. Click Add to add the Power Editor app.

You’re taken to a browser window where the Power Editor is enabled.

  7. Click the Power Editor icon.

You’re taken back to Facebook, where you’re prompted to select which of your ads and campaigns you want to show in the Power Editor.

  8. Select the accounts you want to add to the Power Editor.

Choose whichever accounts you want to add.

  9. Click Download.

Depending on how many ads you’ve run in the past, downloading may take a little while.

When the download completes, you’re ready to use the Power Editor.
